Course Overview
On this hands-on course, we help you nurture your creativity, think outside the box, and grow into a confident creative. You’ll learn how to sew, design, upcycle and make your own fashion pieces — while exploring sustainability and exploring fashion branding and marketing through your own digital blog or digital magazine. Whether you're dreaming of a job in the industry or just love creating things, this course is your first step into the world of fashion, Interior and textiles design. This is where your design journey begins.

- Introduction to the fashion and textiles industry
- Studio health & safety

- Intro to machine sewing: seams, hems, straight stitch
- Sketchbook and journaling: reflective and visual

- This project will be in conjunction with a local sustainability charity foundation Daadi that promotes conscious fashion.

Module 2
Theme: Developing Technical & Creative Skills Skills & Content:
- Pattern cutting basics and simple pattern drafting
- Decorative techniques: appliqué, tie-dye, printing, beading
- Simple garment construction (e.g., top, shorts, skirt)
- Introduction to upcycling and garment repair
- Working with client briefs (imaginary or real)
- Take an old garment and transform it into something new
- Include a sustainability statement and visual mood board
- Invent a personal fashion brand
- Design a logo, brand colour palette, and target audience
- Make a sample product and packaging (mock-up or real)
- Compare high street and sustainable fashion brands
- Visit charity shops or local recycling centres (if possible)
- Discuss carbon footprint of fabric production

Theme: Final Major Project & Fashion Futures Skills & Content:
- Independent design planning
- Time management and creative process documentation
- Final make: small outfit or fashion accessory collection
- Peer/self-evaluation and final presentation
- Showcase or portfolio exhibition
- Create an item or mini-collection using sustainable fabrics
- Include sketches, mood board, final piece, and evaluation
- Present project as if to a buyer, gallery, or social media audience
- Plan a fashion stall for a market or online shop
- Budgeting: materials, price points, marketing
- Create a sample product and mini marketing plan (poster/social post mock-ups)
- Investigate future fabrics (bamboo, Tencel, bio-fabric)
- Fashion activism: brands with ethical values
- Create a personal “Fashion Sustainability Pledge”

Level 2 Fashion & Textiles
This course is perfect if you see yourself working as a fashion designer, textiles designer or a role in fashion business.
You’ll learn a range of fashion and Textile design skills including:
Basic pattern cutting and constructing
Fashion design processes
Textile techniques and fabric manipulation
You’ll learn a range of fashion business skills including:
Promotion
Branding
Merchandising
Developing creative designs from varied research will enable you to show imagination, experimentation and understanding of the fashion and textiles industries. Alongside your fashion and textiles designs you will learn about fashion business and promotion. The course gives you the opportunity to explore all areas of fashion design, textiles and fashion business allowing you to progress on to the level 3 Fashion Design.
You can expect to be challenged creatively but at the same time well-supported by expert tutor. There will be lots of opportunities to visit exhibitions, both locally and nationally. You’ll also take part in a yearly fashion show and exhibition, live project briefs and competitions. You will develop employability skills in presenting your work, communicating with others, working within teams, exhibiting your work and problem solving.

Level 3 Fashion & Textiles Course
This hands-on Diploma is perfect for future fashion, textiles, costume, or accessory designers. Delivered in our fully equipped studio in La Llosa de Camacho, this course blends creative exploration with technical training, preparing you for higher education or employment in the fashion industry.
Course Structure
- GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 1080 over 2 years
- TQT (Total Qualification Time): 1440 hours
- Independent Study: 360 hours
This course is perfect if you see yourself working as a designer in the world of fashion, textiles, soft furnishings, costume or even in fashion accessories, within our excellently resourced Fashion and Textiles department in Marina Alta.
You’ll learn a range of fashion and textile skills in Year 1:
Fashion:
Womenswear/Menswear/Gender fluid/Interior design
Pattern cutting
Construction and production
Sustainability in the fashion and textiles industry.
Computer aided design for fashion and textiles and explore AI design.
Textiles:
Surface pattern design and screen/sublimation printing.
Dyeing fabric techniques.
Accessory design. Knit, crochet, macrame, quilting and patchwork.
Embroidery both hand and machine, applique.
Year 2 will allow you to specialise further through in-depth research of design history and contemporary trends within fashion design and/or textile design, developing skills and a progression portfolio and plan.
The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
You can expect plenty of expert guidance on preparing a winning portfolio, and you’ll get the chance to showcase your work in an annual fashion show and static exhibition. You’ll get to grips with the complex but exciting world of the fashion industry through industry visits, focusing on your employability skills.
You will complete 90 credits in Year 1 and gain a standalone qualification. On successful completion of this, you will progress into Year 2 to gain the full Extended Diploma.

Over the age of 19 just a desire to journey with us into the world of fashion.
Under 19 and wanting to progress into University with this qualification then it will be preferable for you to complete an IGCSE in Maths & English by the end of the qualifying period.

IGCSE ART & DESIGN: FASHION & TEXTILES
CAMBRIDGE UK QUALIFICATION

2 year Course.
Textile and Fashion Design is a dynamic and versatile practice that encompasses the creation, selection, manipulation, and application of materials such as fibres, yarns, and fabrics. It also includes processes such as weaving, knitting, stitching, printing, pattern cutting, construction, fashion design, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD). At Fashion Academy Spain, we guide our students to approach their work like professional Textile and Fashion Designers, working in multi-disciplinary ways to develop ideas, materials, and techniques for diverse applications. We also emphasise the impact of these disciplines in fields such as fashion, theatre, performance, and retail. Students learn to work in team environments, such as large commercial manufacturing companies, focusing on specific aspects of the design or production process. Alternatively, they explore working as freelance practitioners, managing commissions, or pursuing self-directed projects. Through the course, students gain essential communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and promote themselves as designers and makers in the competitive creative industries.
This course comprises two components: Personal Portfolio Coursework Project (60%)
Externally Set Project (40%)
There is no written exam for this course, allowing students to fully focus on their creative and practical development.

A LEVEL ART & DESIGN: FASHION & TEXTILES
CAMBRIDGE UK QUALIFICATION

2 year Course.
Entry requirements: 5 GCSEs or proven ability to study at this level Textile and Fashion Design is a dynamic and versatile practice that encompasses the creation, selection, manipulation, and application of materials such as fibres, yarns, and fabrics. It also includes processes such as weaving, knitting, stitching, printing, pattern cutting, construction, fashion design, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD). At Fashion Academy Spain, we guide our students to approach their work like professional Textile and Fashion Designers, working in multi-disciplinary ways to develop ideas, materials, and techniques for diverse applications.
Technical workshops
We begin the course by introducing students to a range of working methods and materials which can be used to develop project work. As part of this introduction, we also run a Visual Studies course, where we will introduce you to a range of artists and movements to further your conceptual understanding.
Individual project work
Following the workshops, we ask students to start developing individual projects. This period involves taking your ideas further through observational drawing, research and experiments with media processes and imagery. You can build on your favourite ways of working or explore new approaches at this time.
You will also complete a range of substantial main pieces in response to the lively and rich set of project work in your sketchbook. This project will form a Personal Investigation and will be accompanied by a 3000-word research essay.
Exam project
In February of your second year, you will receive an exam paper that contains a range of stimuli to begin a second practical project. This will build towards an outcome that will be completed under timed conditions (15 hours).
